The mix

makes the difference.

Prefer just dry food? Or just wet? Or a mix of both? Faced with these questions, dog owners are often indecisive. For this reason, we are going to take this opportunity to shed some light on this important topic.

Why mix feed?

Both dry and wet foods from SELECT GOLD provide all necessary nutrients in the highest quality. Therefore it is not strictly necessary to combine – although it is to be recommended. Dry food supports the formation of the teeth and can contribute to dental care. Wet food already amounts to a large portion of your dog’s fluid intake requirements and is easier to digest thanks to its soft consistency.

When is which food best?

As mentioned above, dogs need more time to digest dry food than they do for wet food. For this reason we recommend that you give your dog small portions spread out throughout the day. In doing so, you can alternate between dry and wet food. If you are not at home during the day and leave food out for your dog to decide when he wants his portions, then we recommend dry food. It doesn’t go bad so quickly, especially in summer, and is altogether somewhat more hygienic. In any case, make sure there is enough fresh drinking water available in an extra bowl.

The key points at a glance:

  • Dry and wet food both provide all important nutrients

  • We recommend alternating between both

  • Dry food can support dental care, wet food goes a long way in covering your dog’s fluid intake requirements
